Square Golf Omni Review: A Serious Launch Monitor Value Under $2,000

Friendly Golfer

Quick summary· AI-generated

Bobby Heckeroth reviews the Square Golf Omni launch monitor, positioning it as strong value under $2,000 for home sim golfers. The review includes hands-on testing indoors and outdoors, a direct accuracy comparison against a Foresight GCQuad, build-quality assessment, and evaluation of software compatibility (GSPro, third-party platforms). While the author praises its photo-based tracking, no-marked-balls design, and premium build for the price, he notes it has limitations and is not perfect—the article guides readers on whether the Omni suits their needs and how it compares to the Bushnell Launch Pro and Square Home Edition.

Excerpt from Friendly Golfer

The Square Golf Omni is one of the more interesting launch monitors to hit the golf simulator market this year.

On paper, it checks a lot of boxes that usually cost much more: photo-based ball tracking, club data, face impact location, indoor and outdoor use, no required marked balls, GSPro compatibility, and no traditional subscription from Square.

That sounds great. But launch monitors are not bought on spec sheets alone.

After testing the Omni indoors, outdoors, and against a Foresight GCQuad, my overall takeaway is pretty simple: this is a very strong value for the money, especially for home simulator golfers. But it is not perfect, and there are a few things you should understand before buying one.

Square Golf Omni Overview

The Square Golf Omni is a photo-based launch monitor that sits beside the ball. It uses four front-facing cameras to track the golf ball and club through impact.

That matters because it does not need much ball flight to work. You do not need 8 to 10 feet of ball travel like you might with some radar units. As long as you have enough room to safely swing and hit into a net or screen, the Omni can work.

The current price is $1,600, which puts it well below many premium photo-based launch monitors.

What I Like About the Square Golf Omni

Strong Build Quality

The Omni feels much more premium than the Square Golf Home Edition.

The body has a satin metal-style finish, rounded edges, and a brighter built-in display. The front and top are plastic, but the overall feel is solid. It looks and feels like a launch monitor that costs over $1,000.

I’m not personally a huge fan of the tripod-style shape. It looks a little awkward to me. But in actual use, it was stable and did not cause any problems.

One smart design detail is that the cameras and…
