An unintentionally eventful first look at the updated FlightSim Studios Embraer E-Jet 175 in Flight Simulator 2024

Beckett takes a first look at the E-Jet 175 v1.0.2, using a custom startup procedure and SayIntentions.AI for ATC. He makes a humorous mid-flight discovery (forgetting to fuel, causing an uncontrollable climb, then discovering the ability to refuel in mid-air), encounters challenges with autopilot re-engagement after disengaging LNAV/VNAV modes, and switches to manual navigation for landing. He notes the aircraft is well-designed but requires familiarity with its systems, and flags minor issues including external sound mixing that doesn't match cabin audio.

Today we’re taking a first look at version 1.0.2 of the FlightSim Studios Embraer E-Jet 175 in Flight Simulator 2024. We’re going to fly from Gatwick to Schiphol.
I am using my own hand-written functional start procedure to get the aircraft up and running. The guide takes you though everywhere you need to look, what to press, what to turn, and what to configure to get the aircraft up and running properly. You can get a copy of it from the URL below: https://ko-fi.com/s/563e25566b I am using SayIntentions.AI to provide air traffic services, and aircraft injection during the flight. If you like the look of SayIntentions.AI, you can click the link below to try it out for free! https://sayintentions.ai/join#677719f0e67f8 Debrief While getting distracted and side-tracked with delving around the aircraft during departure, I forgot to fill it with fuel - which caused take-off to become something of a roller-coaster ride. I turns out if you take off at full power with almost no fuel, there’s no amount of trim in the known universe that will stop the aircraft climbing into the stratosphere. Thankfully I realised the mistake BEFORE running out of fuel, and discovered a handy loophole in the tablet at the moment - you can fill the aircraft up in mid-air, while under power (phew!) Other than that, there’s obviously some more learning required around the guidance systems. While exploring the autopilot modes towards the end of the flight, I disengaged LNAV and VNAV, and couldn’t get them to re-engage. I have no doubt it will be because of something I had done, but it still points “not knowing what I don’t know yet”. In the event, I used selected modes for lateral and vertical navigation, and went manual for finals anyway. It’s a great aircraft - probably just hampered by my lack of knowledge at the moment. I did notice a few things missing along the way, but nothing too serious. One thing that did strike me as odd - the external sound appears to be what you would hear inside the cabin…
