First look at the Inibuilds Boeing 707 and Sim Update 6 in Flight Simulator 2024
Quick summary· AI-generated
The author takes a first flight in the iniBuilds 707 and encounters a critical issue where Sim Update 6 breaks all aircraft in the simulator when community-folder add-ons are present. After clearing the community folder, the 707 flies well overall, though the author struggles with NAV radio configuration. The piece is a hands-on first impression rather than a comprehensive review, noting the author plans to explore additional 707 variants with different avionics packages.
Excerpt from Jonathan Beckett
Tonight is going to be quite good fun. We're going to (attempt) to fly the Boeing 707 in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Mistakes will be made. Wish me luck.
Debrief When I first loaded the simulator this evening, the 707 worked. Then I went off and had dinner. On my return, I booted the simulator again - with thoughts of perhaps documenting the 707 startup procedure - and hit something of a brick wall - every time I touched any switches around the cockpit, the fuel tanks emptied. After much digging around (4 hours of digging around), I realised that EVERY aircraft was broken. Then it occurred to me - after coming back from dinner, the simulator had downloaded an update - “Sim Update 6”. I removed everything from ALL of my community folders. And suddenly the sim was fixed - so I think it’s fair to say that something in the community folder was globally breaking every other aircraft after Sim Update 6. As you will find in the video above, the only thing I really got stuck on with the 707 was the NAV radios. I’m sure it’s something I missed along the way, but it would be good to know if anybody else can get them working. I still have two more variants of the 707 to try out - both with different avionics packages. There’s a part of me that really wants to try the old UNS version that everybody hates - just to figure it out. I’m a bit odd like that. Anyway - a fun evening in the end, even if it did stretch on until 2am (again) :)
