Quick summary· AI-generated
Just Flight has released a payware Robin DR400-180 aircraft addon for X-Plane 12, developed in partnership with Thranda Design. The addon is built using real-world aircraft plans and photography of a 1977 British-registered aircraft (G-BEUP), featuring 8K textures, full 3D cockpit with wear-and-tear detail, numerous animations (sliding canopy, luggage door, engine exhausts), PBR materials with real-time reflections, native X-Plane 12 rain effects, and full VR support with VR manipulators and camera snap points. The article focuses on the aircraft's historical background and comprehensive feature list, emphasizing the developers' attention to authenticity and detail.

Just Flight – in partnership with Thranda Design – has recently released their rendition of the Robin DR400-180 for X-Plane 12, a single-engine wooden monoplane widely used in flight schools around Europe.
The airplane was released in 1972, improving on the previously released DR300 with a wider cabin, a forward-sliding canopy, a “cranked-wing” configuration that allowed for stable cruising and safer stalls, and a clearer, better-placed dashboard for easier instrument readings.
The depicted rendition is the 180 hp variant, which was the first to roll out of the production line and was first flown in March 1972. The developers have extensively researched a real-life DR400, registered G-BEUP (manufactured in 1977), and based at Goodwood Aerodrome.
It’s powered by a Lycoming 0-360, cruising at 260 km/h with a 1278 km range, and seating up to four people.
The add-on features an accurately built DR400-180, using real-world aircraft plans and comprehensive photography of the real aircraft, numerous animations including a sliding canopy, realistic modeling and texturing, brand new 8K textures, authentic labeling and placards based on those found in the real aircraft, PBR materials with real-time environment reflections, detailed normal mapping, and native X-Plane 12 rain effects. The full feature list follows below:
