A rendition of Alabama’s Mobile International Airport (KBFM) has come out this week, with Drzewiecki Design releasing a version for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024.
Mobile International Airport (KBFM) is part of the Mobile Aeroplex, located in Brookley, AL, USA, near downtown Mobile, on the Mobile Bay.
The location serves a major role across the entire aerospace sector, hosting a final-assembly line for Airbus and its A320/A220 series, including a comprehensive aerospace campus with production hangars, paint shops, logistics buildings, and handover facilities.
The airport has two lengthy runways and is connected by road, rail and sea to facilitate the aforementioned aircraft manufacturing and delivery operations, cargo, maintenance, business and GA services.
Originating as a small municipal and military airfield, it served as Brookley Air Force Base, notably being an important service point for the USAF during the Second World War, again thanks to the airfield’s strategic maritime connections.
After the military base closed, the airport served several other roles, also hosting Space Shuttle Enterprise in 1984.
