Fly2High has recently released their rendition of Westchester County Airport (KHPN) for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, serving the Hudson Valley, Western Connecticut, and the New York metropolitan area, with an average of 2.3 million passengers per year.
It was built during World War 2 to house an Air National Guard unit whose main objective was to provide protection for the New York area and Rye Lake, which was part of the city’s water supply. Said unit remained active until 1983, when it finally moved to Stewart International Airport in Orange County.
Scheduled airline flights started in 1949 with American Airlines, which operated a route from LaGuardia to Westchester, and then to Syracuse and beyond, returning later in the evening.
Its current passenger terminal was built in 1995 and originally featured four jetways (six gates in total, but it can only serve four aircraft at a time due to space restrictions), a gift shop, a departure lounge, restaurants, and two TSA screening lanes. It was later expanded in 2015 with four additional jetways, additional check-in stands, and an overall 20% increase in area.
In 2019, a lodge-like separate terminal was built for private aircraft passengers.
It’s served by American Eagle, BermudAir, Breeze Airways, Cape Air, Delta Air Lines, Delta Connection, JetBlue, and JSX.
The scenery features an accurate rendition of the airport, with custom ground textures, an up-to-date ground layout, a custom terminal interior, high-resolution PBR textures, custom night lighting, handcrafted airport surroundings, performance-friendly optimization, and more.
It’s available on OrbxDirect for roughly $17.00, requiring at least 4.64 GB of free hard disk space to install.
